Review & Giveaway: Booger Butts {closed}

As we approached the birth of our newest little bundle of joy we realized that we were seriously lacking in our size small AIO diapers.

We love the convenience of AIO diapers for when we're away from home, but only had a few in our diaper stash.

We were very happy when Anne, creative mastermind behind Booger Butts, agreed to send us a small AIO diaper and two mama pads to review.

Anne works full time as a Chicago hotel chef, but loves to relax and unwind after work by sewing items for her shop.

"Booger Butts Diapers consist of baby flannel outside layer, PUL (polyurethane Laminate) sandwiched layer and a baby-flannel layer close to the skin. The sewn inner liner is made from layers of terry cloth. The legs and back have elastic and the closures are touch tape (velcro). The diaper also includes laundry tabs. These will ensure that the diaper will not stick to everything in the washer/dryer."

These AIO diapers are very reasonably priced at $7.25 (XS, S, M) and $8.25 (L). You can also upgrade your diaper to a Zorb inner layer for an additional $1.

I had never heard of Zorb, but Anne sent me some information along with a small scrap so that I could see what was on the inside of our new AIO. The fabric itself looks and feels similar to felt.

"Zorb contains only tangled fibers from bamboo/cotton/viscose and poly micro fiber, the same fibers found in virtually every AIO diaper on the market - nothing else. Zorb had non-allergenic fibers that are durable and easy to sanitize. Zorb is manufactured in the USA and Canada in modern facilities that are safe and friendly for workers and the environment."

To get the same absorbency, as two layers of Zorb, you would need:
- 8 layers of flannel
- 6 layers of French terry
- 5 layers of cotton fleece, or
- 4 layers of sherpa

Therefore, the Zorb inner layer provides a lot of absorbency while helping to keep the diaper trim.

We love the look and feel of this Booger Butts AIO diaper. We've been very please with its construction and absorbency. We have had very little leaking around the legs, which I'm sure will completely disappear as Eliya grows into the diaper a little more. (The size small is actually for babies around the 10 pound mark and Eliya is only weighing in at about 7 pounds so far.)

We would recommend Booger Butts' AIO diapers for anyone who is looking for quality and affordability in cloth diapering.

I have also been very pleased with the mama pads that Anne sent me to try out. For those who may not know, mama pads are simply washable and reusable menstrual pads. By using mama pads you can reduce the cost of buying expensive feminine products every month while also reducing the amount of waste you contribute to our landfills. An added bonus is that cloth mama pads don't contain the potentially harmful chemicals of their disposable counterparts.

Booger Butts mama pads are 12 inches long by 3.5 wide and designed for medium to heavy flow. I used these pads within a week of having Eliya and they worked wonderfully. The top fabric is cotton with a Zorb inner layer and PUL backing. Booger Butts mama pads have snap closures.

I was a little unsure of how the mama pads would stay put without an adhesive strip, but the shape and snap closures help to keep them in place nicely. The inner Zorb layer also provides great absorbency while keeping the pads thinner than many disposables I've tried in the past.

Booger Butts also carries wet bags, wipes, diaper inserts, and cloth diaper fabric.
