Stocking Stuffers for the Entire Family

Growing up, our stockings were always filled with small but welcomed surprises. Recently, however it appears that most items marketed as "stocking stuffer" should really be categorized as "money-wasting junk."

This year we are filling stockings with higher quality items that will actually make it passed Christmas morning. Are you looking for some small gifts to stuff into stockings for Christmas? Here are  few ideas.

Children
- small craft items (pom-pom, glue sticks, wiggly-eyes, stickers, etc.)
- play-doh
- coloring book
- small Lego set
- Matchbox car
- finger puppets
- hairbows, elastics, bands, etc.
- small books
- mini magna-doodle
- CDs (Songs for Saplings CDs would be great! Get 20% off using coupon code heartforhome)
- fruit leather
- crayons, markers, mechanical pencils, etc.
- ornament (This year we're beginning a new tradition and purchasing an ornament for each of our children to find in their stocking)

Men (& older sons)

- sunflower seeds
- nuts
- personal grooming products (cologne, razor, soap, hair gel, etc.) Maybe stay away from deodorant :)

- beef jerky
- pocket knife or Leatherman
- favorite gum or candy
- coupon booklet (Favorite Dessert Club: one favorite dessert each month, Romantic Dinner at Home Club: one dinner minus kids each month, etc.)
- his favorite coffee or tea
- items for grilling (spice rub, metal skewers, grill brush, etc.)
- gloves

Women (& older daughters)
- stationary
- pretty office supplies (binder clips, paperclips, post-it notes, etc.)
- book
- CDs
- lotion (only if you know what she likes)
- lip balm
- portable nail file with a little case (great for her purse)
- coupon book (Dish Free Nights: coupons offering free dishwashing on days she normally does them, Romantic Dinner at Home Club: one dinner minus kids each month, etc.)
- her favorite chocolate
- her favorite coffee or tea
- small handmade ornament from each child (here's one idea)
- craft items (rubber stamps, ink pad, ribbon spool,
- small kitchen items (rubber spatula, wooden spoons, measuring spoons, etc.)
- pretty tools (I got a flower screwdriver like thisone year, or look the whole set)

Do you have any more ideas? We'd love some suggestions (especially for men) as we (I) are still picking up items to stuff into stockings .

  1. Fun list, Allyson! I got that same screwdriver for Christmas one year from my grandfather. I still use it...and Gavin thinks it is funny!

  3. great ideas! some stocking stuffers we love: clementine oranges, toothbrushes, finger nail polish, gum and chocolate, travel size lotions and soaps, and nuts. easy and fun!
