Nana Pants Cloth Diapers: Review & Giveaway {closed}

Introduction: Nana Pants was born out of the desire of a grandma to help cloth diaper her grandson. When Betsy found out she was expecting her third grandson and that his parents wanted to use cloth, she began sewing and testing diapers on her second grandson. In Betsy's own words, "she worked with various materials and patterns in order to discover the best diaper to capture leaks, grow with the baby, and to look stinkin' cute while doing so!"

Now her youngest two grandchildren wear nothing but Nana Pants.

All of her diapers are available with either a snap or velcro closure. You can also personalize any of the diapers with an embroidery design. Nana Pants also offers 22 different solid PUL colors and several printed PUL designs as well.

I love that Betsy makes her diapers unique without going the route of hidden PUL and cotton fabric on the outside. We haven't had very good luck with those type of diapers, so I'm very pleased that Nana Pants only offers diapers made with PUL outers (is that a word?!?).

Review: We were blessed to receive a custom embroidered OS pocket diaper with snaps from Nana Pants.

We chose a light blue PUL and a embroidery design with two adorable sheep and the words "The Lord is My Shepherd."

We absolutely love the look of this diaper! This is our first embroidered diaper and it is definitely one of the cutest diapers I've ever seen.

However, our excitement over this doesn't stop at the cute embroidered bum. This diaper is very well made and fits wonderfully. Nana Pants' one size diapers are made to fit from 13 to 30 pounds and seem to run very true to that sizing. Some people may see the 13 pounds as a disadvantage to other One Size diapers. However, we've found that even the well know OS brands (who claim to fit from 8 pounds) don't really fit well until 10-12 pounds anyway. This diaper is an equally great fit for Eliya (1 year ~ 22 lbs.) and Jonathan (2 1/2 yrs. ~ 26 lbs.)

I also love that Betsy includes elastic along the pocket opening in both the PUL and the suedecloth inner. I've found that this helps to keep the insert from creeping out the back. The pocket opening is a little smaller than some of our other diapers, but it wasn't difficult to place or remove the insert at all.

I love that Nana Pants' diapers have the option of snap or velcro closure. We personally prefer snaps and I was excited to see that there are two snaps to each wing plus two overlapping snaps for those tiny waisted babies (not ours).

I was a little concerned about there only being a single row of snaps, but happily found that if I snap the outer snaps to fit the legs I can cinch the inner snaps in an extra space to make the waist fit perfectly. I think the only time the single row of snaps would be a problem is if your baby has a very chubby belly but extremely skinny legs. However, even our skinny legged boy had no problem fitting into this diaper perfectly.

Betsy's inserts are different than any others we've tried and seem to be very absorbent but trim fitting at the same time. Her inserts are made of Zorb material and lined in flannel. Each insert is able to be bi- or tri- folded to suit your baby's needs. According to Betsy "Zorb is a microfiber that can instantly absorb up to 6 times it's weight, yet is also easily wrung dry.

From our experience it certainly seems to work great. The first time we put Eliya in this diaper we were heading to church. While at church I checked Eliya several times and each time her skin still felt dry. Almost 5 hours later I finally changed her diaper. Her skin and even the suedecloth were still dry to the touch.

Betsy sends a wear and care guide with every diaper she sells. She even offers a written 60 day warranty on her diapers!
