AMP Diapers {Review & Giveaway}

Introduction: AMP Diapers is owned and operated by Annie, mom to five children ages 1 1/2 to 15.  As a first time mom in the 90's Annie tried cloth diapers more than once and failed each time. She wanted to use cloth but lacked the support and information she needed to be successful. She first successfully made the switch to cloth in 2003 when her oldest son was just a tiny newborn.

After being disappointed with diapers she was given and had purchased Annie got sewing. She experimented with many different models of diapers before she came up with an easy to use, easy to wash and comfortable diapers for my baby. Some friends urged her to make some for them and a company was born.

The company grew so quickly it took Annie a few years to realize that she had made something wonderful, something that is better for our planet, for babies and saves parents a lot of money.

Review: Annie was kind enough to send us the One Size Duo Diaper in Froggy Green.

The first thing I noticed about this diaper was how exceptionally soft the inner fleece was. Since I knew it was brand new and clean I even rubbed my face with the wonderful softness.

The AMP Duo Diaper has a snap placement that allows this diaper to have three different rise options and multiple tummy and thigh settings. This means you can get a custom fit from birth to potty training (7-38 lbs).

By adjusting the rise and waist and thigh snaps we were able to easily get a great fit for both Jonathan (2 years, 25 lbs.) and Eliya (9 months 18 lbs.)

The outer waterproof layer is a soft durable laminated PUL and the inside is a soft layer of microfleece that is designed to wick wetness away and keep baby dry and comfortable. The envelope opening is large enough for easy stuffing and is placed at the front of the diaper to make removing the insert easy and mess free.

To adjust the rise of the diaper you just snap the front snaps appropriately and then place the insert inside the diaper. Then place the diaper under your baby and fasten the tummy and thigh snaps at a snug but comfortable position. You can watch a demonstration video of the diaper here.

I love that Annie included the 2 layer hemp insert as well as the 2 layer and 3 layer hemp boosters. Depending on how you fold the insert you can get 4 layers or 6 layers of super thirsty hemp to help pull moister away from your baby's bum.This is one of my first experienced with natural fiber inserts and boosters and I absolutely love them!

One of the things I like most about this diaper is that with a natural fiber insert you can use the OS Duo Diaper as either a pocket diaper or an All-in-Two.

To use as a pocket simply stuff the insert into the front opening envelope pocket. To use the Duo Diaper as an All-in-Two simply lay the natural fiber insert on top of the fleece lining. By using the diaper this way you can reuse the diaper (as long as it's dry) by replacing the insert. (Do not use this diaper as an All-in-Two if you are using microfiber inserts since they can overdry and irritate baby's skin.)

Another big plus for the AMP Duo Diaper is the leg, front and back elastic. This is the first diaper I have seen that doesn't have turned under legs and back. The way that AMP diapers are sewn provides less bulk in the elastic areas, making a snug fit more comfortable for your baby. They also hold in messes perfectly.

We have been using this diaper now for several weeks and are very pleased with its fit and functionality. I also love the color (and all the other choices) and hope to add some more AMP Duo Diapers to our stash in the future.
