List It, Link It ~ Tot and Preschool Tray Idea Sites

Tot and Preschool Tray Idea Sites

1. 1+1+1=1 ~ Lots of information and ideas for Tot Trays here. Here's a great post on how Carisa transitioned her son from Tot Trays to Preschool Workboxes.

2. Counting Coconuts ~ Montessori inspired trays. Mari-Ann has started an On Our Shelves feature each month. You can find even more ideas on her Flickr page.

3. Tot School ~ Shannon has tons of great ideas for Tot Trays but be sure to check out the rest of her blog for other great tot and preschool activities, too.

4. The Activity Mom ~ Nicole doesn't specifically use trays but many of her activities would be perfect for tot and preschool trays.
Any other great sites for tot and preschool tray ideas?

List It, Link It ~ Spring & Easter Themed Sensory Bin Ideas

Sensory bins are a great way to allow children to explore using multiple senses. These bins are also open-ended play and encourage children to use their own creativity. If you have toddlers, pre-schoolers or young children at home I would love to encourage you to give sensory bins a chance!

List It, Link It ~ Ways to Earn More Swagbucks

Thankfully, we joined the Swagbucks bandwagon soon after they launched. We've been thoroughly blessed by using Swagbucks to purchase Amazon gift cards.

Search & Win

First things first, Swagbucks is a search engine which randomly rewards you with Swagbucks for searching (like Google, although not quite as good). You can then use these Swagbucks to purchase a huge variety of items, our favorite is the Amazon gift card.

Swagbucks started out simply offering rewards for searching, but there are now lots of different ways to earn.

Signing up for Swagbucks is really easy. Just fill out this simple form and you're done. Please, only sign up for one account per household or Swagbucks will close down your account. Just learn to share your Swagbucks :)

While you can easily earn enough Swagbucks for a free gift card each month, Swagbucks also has a great referral program to help you earn even more.

Here are just a handful of ways we earn Swagbucks on a regular basis. For lots of other great ideas make sure you read Crystal's posts on 15 Ways to Earn More Swagbucks.

6 Easy Ways to Earn More Swagbucks

1. Install the Swagbucks Toolbar ~ this makes it so easy to remember to search through Swagbucks.

2. Search for sites you visit frequently instead of typing the web address ~ We typically earn at least 10-15 Swagbucks each day by doing this.

3. Print & use coupons from the Swagbucks site ~ We don't personally do this because we don't have a printer, but you can earn 10 Swagbucks for every coupon you print and use.

4. Watch Swagbucks TV ~ I typically turn this on when I'm working on the computer anyway. You do have to manually click for a new video, but you can easily earn 3 Swagbucks for every 10 videos you watch. The animal and food videos are kid safe.

5. Take the Daily Poll ~ Earn 1 Swagbuck each day in about 3 seconds.

6. Purchase Daily Deals through Swagbucks ~ We haven't found any yet that we wanted to purchase, but Groupon usually has deals you can buy through Swagbucks' link and earn 160 Swagbucks.

Do you use Swagbucks? What's your favorite way to earn?

List It, Link It ~ Free Do-A-Dot Printables

Emahry and Jonathan like to draw, but they LOVE to paint. I however, don't usually like the mess that is created when their little artists come out. We do all agree on the greatness of their bingo markers. I love this Do-A-Dot Rainbow Art Set on Amazon.
Amazon also carries the Do-a-Dot Art Brilliant Set which I know Emahry would love (especially the pink)!
Do-A-Dot "Markers" are actually filled with liquid paint and have a small sponge applicator on the end. These paints are spill proof, easy to blend, dry quickly and won't dry out if the cap is left off

Do-A-Dots are great for art projects but also make skill practice more fun for children. Here are a few free Do-A-Dot printable available on the web.

(These pages can also be filled in with circle stickers, buttons, cheerios or our favorite magnet pom-poms on a cookie sheet. To reuse these sheets, simply print them on cardstock and slide them into a page protector or laminate each page.)

Be sure to check out these great blogs!

List It, Link It ~ My Evernote List

I recently downloaded the free version of Evernote and have been using it to store all kinds of things I find on the web. I love the hightlight and clip feature and also being able to add tags and notes to what I save. I also love how easy it is to find things I've saved through Evernote, no more trying to remember what I saved something under in my Favorites or Bookmarks.

10 Things I Clipped to Evernote this Week

1. Peek-a-Boo Toy Sack Tutorial @ make it perfect

2. Food Face Plate @ a bird and a bean

3. Silk Dyed Easter Eggs @ Our Best Bites

4. Bubble Wrap Hopscotch @ Giver's Log

5. Button Board @ Tired, Need Sleep

6. Free ABC Printable Art @ kind over matter

9. Kid's Artwork to Embroidery @ Nurturing the tender years

Have you ever heard of Evernote? Do you use it? Have any questions about it? Please, share in the comments.

List It, Link It ~ Favorite Educational YouTube Videos

Our two oldest (3 1/2 and 2 1/2) love watching movies. It probably has something to do with the fact that we don't own a T.V. and they rarely get to sit and watch a full length movie.

However, we have found that YouTube has a vast array of educational video, especially for preschool aged children. This list contains some of our current favorites.

List It, Link It ~ Favorite Soup Recipes

With our Tennessee winter in full swing we've been eating lots of soup recently. This is fine with me since I absolutely love soup, especially with a hunk of crusty bread.

Favorite Soup Recipes
(in no particular order)

1. Cream Cheese Chicken Soup (Creamy and comforting. One of the kids' favorites.)

2. Crock Pot Baked Potato Soup (This makes a lot and is definitely a crowd pleaser.)

3. Crock Pot Seafood Bisque (We use this recipe but replace the lobster with crab and shrimp)

4. Easy Hamburger Vegetable Soup (All of the ingredients cost under $5)

5. Summer Squash Soup (We eat this a lot during the summer, but I've been craving it recently and may have to look for some yellow summer squash on my next trip to the grocery store.)

Do you have any favorite soup recipes? Please, share in the comments.

List It, Link It ~ Do-It-Yourself Projects for 2011

I read this idea on Money Saving Mom and love the concept of scheduling one DIY project for each month. These are all projects I've (we've) never done before. We'll update you as we complete each one.

Do-It-Yourself Experiments for 2011

January: Make Homemade Soft Pretzels ~ We made these last weekend. We'll be posting our experiment results soon.

February: Make Cake Balls (or Cake Truffles) ~ I have some Cherry Flavored Morsels that will be great for Valentine's Day.

March: Make Split Pea Shamrock Bean Bags ~ My first attempt at sewing vinyl.

May: Make at least one Toddler or Twin Sized Wide Striped Quilt ~ I'm hoping this isn't too ambitious!

June: Make 3-Tiered Skirts for the Girls ~ Since we can't seem to find skirts long enough.

July: Create a Space for the Kids' Artwork ~ Maybe something like this.

August: Make something using Glue Batik ~ I'm thinking t-shirts & onesies.

September: Make something using a Freezer Paper Stencil ~ Probably another t-shirt, maybe as a Christmas present.

October: Make an Indoor Sensory Box ~ Just in time for cooler weather and inside play.

November: Make Snowman Handprint Ornaments ~ Finally!

December: Make Homemade Marshmallows ~ If they turn out well, we'll pair them with some hot chocolate mix and pass them out to our neighbors.
Are you planning any first time DIY projects for this year? We'd love to hear about them.
